A YEAR OF HAIKU 2027 with Clark Strand
• Four Seasons
• Twelve Months
• 365 Days of Inspiration
A YEAR OF HAIKU 2027 offers an immersive learning experience in a vibrant online community that includes the best poets currently writing haiku in English. This twelve-month curriculum guides participants through the history of haiku, including a survey of its greatest poets, past and present—plus a careful study of its philosophy and its principal styles and techniques. Mostly, participants will learn by writing and sharing haiku with one another on a weekly basis, exploring and affirming the uniqueness of each poetic voice.
The focus of our 2027 program will be on “The Art of the Group,” exploring the ways that haiku has developed through poetic friendships and collaborations—from its earliest origins down to the present day. Our group is uniquely positioned to “teach” haiku as a group art given that it is the only haiku group in the English speaking world based on the thousand-year-old tradition of writing and sharing haiku as it has been practiced in Japan.
This comprehensive course is intended both for advanced students engaged in long-term study and for those just starting out. No previous experience with haiku or poetry is required.
A YEAR OF HAIKU 2027 will include:
• 52 Haiku Lessons in a Private Facebook Group with Exercises and Discussion
• 48 Weekly One-Hour Zoom Sessions (Recorded) to Review Lessons, Answer Questions, Write Haiku, and Spark Discussion

• A Monthly Kukai Gathering to Share Haiku Informally with Other Members
