A YEAR OF HAIKU 2026 offers a twelve-month immersive learning experience in a vibrant online community that includes the best poets currently writing haiku in English. The curriculum will guide participants through the history of haiku, including a survey of its greatest poets, past and present—plus a careful study of its philosophy and its principal styles and techniques. Mostly, participants will learn by writing and sharing haiku with one another on a weekly basis, exploring and affirming the uniqueness of each poetic voice.

The focus of our 2026 program will be on compiling a new anthology called A YEAR OF HAIKU: Opening to the Wonders of Everyday Life. The book will feature 365 haiku by present and past course members, along with a brief commentary on each poem by Clark Strand.

This comprehensive course is intended both for advanced students engaged in long-term study and for those just starting out.
